엊그제 새봄인가 했는데

벌써 여름의 문턱에 들어선 것 같습니다.

 

해마다 새봄이 돌아오면 북한산 처녀치마 만나는 것이 연례행사로 된지 어언 10여 년 되었습니다.

 

힘겹게 오른 북한산!

그렇지만 수줍어 고개 숙인 처녀 치마의 보랏빛 꽃봉오리를 보는 순간 온갖 시름을 잊고 환희의 세계로 접어 듭니다.

 

갈수록 산 오르는 것이 힘겹게 느껴지지만 이는 나이는 속일 수 없는 자연의 섭리라고 여기고 함께 편안하게 동행합니다.

북한산 계곡에 봄의 소리 요란하다

기화요초 만발하고 온갖 새소리 정겨우니

정녕코

봄의 축제라

봄나들이 백미라.

 

계곡에서 불어오는 시원한 청풍은

이마에 흐르는 땀 말끔히 씻어주니

이 또한

북한산의 정

반갑고도 고마워.

 

계곡의 청량한 물소리도 친근하다

세파에 찌든 마음 말갛게 씻어주니

어디서

이런 청량제

만날 수 있겠는가?

 

긴 겨울 동면에서 깨어난 북한산에

아름다운 처녀치마 사방에서 피어나네

우리도

새봄 맞이로

새 삶을 살아보세.

Yet we are already standing on the threshold of summer.

 

Meeting the Chonyeo-chimaon Bukansan has become an annual ritual for me,

An unbroken bond spanning over ten years with each returning spring.

 

Bukansan, climbed with such effort!

But in the fleeting moment I behold those purple buds, bowed coyly like a maiden’s skirt,

I forget all cares and enter a realm of pure joy.

 

Though the ascent feels increasingly demanding with each passing year,

I accept this as the natural order, an undeniable providence,

And I choose to walk comfortably in its company.

Welcoming Spring with the Chonyeo-chima

In the valleys of Bukansan, the sound of spring is thunderous.

Rare and exotic flowers are in full bloom, and the chorus of various birds is heartwarming.

Surely, this is a festival of spring,

The pinnacle of any spring outing.

 

The cool, pure wind blowing from the valley

Wipes away the sweat flowing on my brow.

This, too, is the affection of Bukansan,

A welcoming and grateful gift.

 

The refreshing sound of the water in the valley feels so close.

It purely cleanses a mind weary from the trials of the world.

Where else could I possibly find such a restorative balm?

 

On Bukansan, awakened from its long winter dormancy,

The beautiful Chonyeo-chimais blooming in all directions.

Let us, too, with this new spring,

Embrace a new life.
